World Nuclear Fuel Cycle 2020 provide an international forum for the discussion of issues affecting the commercial nuclear fuel cycle, with a focus on enhancing the economic competitiveness of the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear energy.
For the first time in eight years, the World Nuclear Association’s Nuclear Fuel Report projections for nuclear generating capacity growth have been revised upwards. More favorable policies for nuclear energy are increasing in a number of countries, over 50 units are under construction, and more nuclear units are undergoing license extensions. At the same time, the uranium market has been characterised by oversupply in recent years and has led to a sizable reduction in uranium production levels at existing mines and a sharp decrease new mine development. Additionally, primary conversion supply is in a deficit with capacity being currently idled.
